Over the last few years, lawyers’ magazines and newspapers have been full of talk about “Web 2.0” and its significance for the legal profession. To some degree, I remain a skeptic, despite that I have been blogging (a quintessential 2.0 activity) since 2005. Most clients are now quite comfortable with email, and if I can help to explain something to them by pointing them to an article on my blog, they are usually quite appreciative. On the other hand, most of them also want face time with their lawyers and other advisers. They can’t get that through an RSS feed.
In any case, my skepticism about some aspects of the 2.0-talk notwithstanding, lawlink.com, a social networking site for lawyers, seems like a good idea. We often do work that requires legal assistance in other jurisdictions. lawlink.com could help with keeping in touch with lawyers in those other jurisdictions, which will make working with them easier.
