Yubnub

I’ve found yubnub.org to be a pretty useful tool especially after I integrated it with Firefox, my browser of choice. With a few keystrokes, I am able to perform searches, including Google and Google Maps searches, without having to go to the search engine websites.

Yubnub allows a user to create custom commands, and I have created three that are tax-related.

  • ‘taxcc’ allows one to find a Tax Court decision simply by inserting the neutral citation or case name after the command. For example, ‘taxcc 2008 TCC 332’ [or ‘taxcc 2008tcc332’] will find 489599 B.C. Ltd v. The Queen, 2008 TCC 332.
  • ‘fca’ performs the same function for Federal Court of Appeal decisions. For example, ‘fca 2006 FCA 121’ [or ‘fca 2006fca121’] will find Morgan v. Alta Flights (Charters) Inc., 2006 FCA 121
  • ‘cras’ (CRA search) allows one to search the CRA website. For example, ‘cras ic00-1r2’ will find Information Circular IC00-1R2.

Yes, it’s geeky, but it’s pretty useful too.
